Text to Speech (AI)
Convert your text into natural-sounding speech with customizable voices

Hear any text read aloud in your browser
This text to speech tool turns whatever you type into spoken audio. It uses the speech engine built into your browser and operating system, so the list of available voices depends on the device you are using. Windows, macOS, Android and iOS each ship with different voices and languages, and the drop-down shows every one your browser can find.
How to use it
- Type or paste your text into the Your Message box.
- Open Select Voice and pick a voice. Each entry shows the voice name and its language code, for example en-US or en-GB.
- Drag the Speed slider between 0.5x and 2x. The label beside it shows the current value, and 1.0x is normal pace.
- Press Listen to AI Voice. The status card changes to Speaking and shows an animated speaker icon.
- Press Stop whenever you want to cancel. When the passage finishes, the card reads Speech completed.
If you press Listen while something is already playing, the current playback is cancelled and the new text starts from the beginning.
Where it helps
- Proofreading: hearing an email or essay read back exposes missing words and clumsy phrasing that your eyes skip over.
- Language practice: choose a voice in the language you are learning and slow the speed down to catch each syllable.
- Accessibility and fatigue: listen to a long article while your eyes rest or while you do something else.
- Quick pronunciation checks: paste an unfamiliar name or word and hear how a voice says it.
Things to know before you rely on it
The voices are the ones supplied by your system, not a separate cloud service, so quality varies. Some desktop browsers list many voices while others list only a few. If the drop-down is empty at first, wait a moment or reload the page, because some browsers load their voice list a little after the page opens.
The tool plays audio through your speakers only. It does not create an MP3 or WAV file, so it is not a way to record narration for a video. For that you would need to capture your computer audio with separate software.
Only the speed slider affects the sound. Pitch is not adjustable here, even though the control panel is grouped with a pitch label. Punctuation shapes the delivery: commas and full stops create short pauses, so adding them to your text often makes the speech sound more natural. Very long passages may be cut off by some browsers, so if playback stops early, split the text into smaller sections and play them one after another.
Numbers, abbreviations and mixed-language sentences are read according to the rules of the selected voice. If a word sounds wrong, try spelling it phonetically in the input box.
