Text to Mirror
Reflect your text horizontally using mirrored character mapping
Reflect your words as if in a mirror
Mirror text looks the way writing would appear reflected in a glass. To imitate that with ordinary characters, two things have to happen: the text is read from right to left, and letters that change shape in a reflection are replaced with flipped look-alikes. This tool does both. It is used for riddles, decorative social posts, invitations with a secret message and lessons on symmetry.
Creating mirrored text
- Enter your words in the Normal Input box.
- Press Mirror Text.
- Your reflected text appears under Mirror 0utput in a larger size.
- Press Copy Result and paste it wherever you need it.
Editing the input hides the old result. The page has no example or clear button, so select and delete the text yourself.
How the flip is done
- The whole string is reversed, so the last character comes first.
- Each character is then looked up in a table of reflected forms. E becomes a backwards E, R becomes a backwards R and s becomes a special reversed s, while letters that already look symmetrical, such as A, H, I, M, O, T, U, V, W, X and Y, stay the same.
- Spaces, punctuation and any character missing from the table are copied unchanged, while most digits are swapped for similar-looking characters, such as 1 to I.
Note that a few swaps rely on similar-looking pairs: b and d exchange places, and p and q do the same.
Good uses
- Writing a clue that has to be held up to a mirror to read.
- Decorating a caption, bio or username with a novelty effect.
- Showing children how reflection changes letters.
- Creating a secret note for a game or party invitation.
Compatibility and limits
Some of the reflected letters come from rare Unicode blocks, and certain fonts, apps and older devices may show them as empty boxes. Test the text on the platform where you will post it. Because the whole input is reversed as a single string, line breaks in a multi-line message are reversed too, so the last line moves to the top; convert lines separately to keep their order. The result is meant to be read left to right as regular mirrored text, not to be typed back in, and the Mirror to Normal Text tool can help reverse it, although some letters do not round-trip perfectly.
